Miami Dade County is looking for a translator professional.
Nature of Work:
This is advanced professional work providing translation and interpretation services for Miami-Dade County.
An employee in this classification is responsible for providing in-house or outsourced translation services for all Miami-Dade County departments as well as coordinating interpretation services for Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meetings and other government public meetings.
Responsibilities include translating government documents from English to Haitian Creole or vice versa; providing interpretation services for Miami-Dade County BCC meetings; acting as a project manager between client and translation/interpretation vendor as needed; editing and proofreading outsourced translations from English into Haitian Creole or vice versa (providing translation services to all official County documents including, County election ballot and related documents) and performing related work as required. Translation of requested documentation for marketing and multimedia scripts as well as voice-over scripts.
Emphasis of the work is on providing accurate translation services under tight deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience in translating legal, business, and technical documents and interpreting deliberations, negotiations, and meetings from English to Haitian Creole and Haitian Creole to English, and French to English and English to French are required. Must obtain U.S. Federal Courts and/or National Centers for State Courts Qualification/Certification within two years of employment and maintain certification throughout employment. Additional experience may substitute for the education requirement.
